ELC 150 ASSIGNMENT : THE THIEF OF BAGHDAD

1. REVIEW OF THE SHORT STORY

          My opinion for the short story The Thieft Of Baghdad, its very interesting story. The story starting with worst cast about theift always stole merchants things. After that, their try to plan something to catch the theift but failed. Then King Zairon annouce to someone can catch the theift will be awarded, so Hassan a genius person give idea to the King Zairon and the plan is successfuly. So the story ending with peace and happiness kingdom because of Hassan idea. About the character, my opinion is King Zairon is a open person because he can accept all his people idea. Besides that, for the Hassan character I think so interesting because of his genius he make something difference to his country. So the moral value if we genius we must share or help to all people in trouble.

2. PRETEND THAT YOU ARE DIRECTOR AND WANT TO MAKE A FILM OUT OF THE SHORT STORY WHO IS THE CHARACTER THAT YOU CHOOSE AND WHY? STATE YOUR HEROIN AND HERO.

If I a director I will choose my friends Ananthan as a Hassan. I choose him because he is genius person and it is suitable to take Hassan's character. Other than that, for King Zairon character I will choose my classmate is Amir Muiz. I choose him because, he is not arragont and can accept any ideas of my friends.

3. WHAT KIND OF ENDING WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE? STATE YOUR REASON FOR THE ENDING THAT YOU CHOOSE.

If me, I would like to have ending with joyful and peace. The ending also, maybe King Zairon can give Hassan to be a King after him and King Zairon give Hassan be his son.

          My opinion for the short story The Magic Ring is a interesting story. Every son not hear their parents advised may bring them to trouble because every words come from parents its very impotant and meaningful. Same like this story Damak he did not care advised from his mother then trouble come to him, his mother said do not ask to much things because later he forget himself. Lastly, he sink with all his things in the lake. So for the Damak character , he so greedy want all things then he died because of his mistake. For Damak's parents, they very care to him altough they are rich. Damak's parents know something trouble will be happen because his son wished. The moral value greedy will bring us in trouble.

          I choose Adi Putra to take character as Damak. I choose him because I get inspiration from KL Gangster 2 Movie. He can bring a greedy character like Damak. After that, for the Damak's parents character I choose my parents because they always advised me to do a good things so later what I do will not bring trouble to me.

3. WHAT KIND OF ENDING WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE ? STATE YOUR REASON FOR THE ENDING, THAT YOU CHOSE.

          So the ending that I would like to have is Damak is poor then he got a magic ring after that he become rich. I want after Damak became rich he must helping kampung folks are needed help. The ending is like after people got reward he must share to other so the ending will be peace and happiness.

1. REVIEW OF THE SHORT STORIES

          My opinion for the short story of The Farmer and The Magic Tree is I think the story is bring more moral value to the readers. Besides that, for the character I very like Basran character. Because every person who are help someone will  be rewarded some thing good. For the Mia character as a Basran's wife, my opinion for her ,  she are so greedy . She did not want to let the golden leafs and fruits finished. So she take all off it. Finally, they lost all of it because Mia attitude and back to normal life become poor again. So the moral value we must not be so greedy in our life.


2. PRETEND THAT YOUR A DIRECTOR AND WANT TO MAKE A FILM OUT OF THE             SHORT STORY, WHO IS THE CHARACTER THAT YOU CHOSE AND WHY? STATE             YOUR HEROIN AND HERO.

          I choose my friends Ilham to take character of Basran. He is my housemate. I choose him because he always help me in doing assignment that I did not understand. If I have finacial problem he also gave me some money to help me. Other than that, I choose Nabila Huda to take character of Mia. I choose her because she can take that character. I had watched her in movie that she took stingy character, she did well on it. So that why i choose her.


3. WHAT KIND OF ENDING WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE? STATE YOUR REASON FOR       THE ENDING THAT YOU CHOSE.

          So what kind of ending that I like is, actually I did not like the ending because due Mia mistake, both them are living in poor again. So I just want that after Mia regretted of her mistake, all that Basran did are came again like he receive the special seeds. I like ending that people realize their mistake and they live in happiness.

ELC 150 : TOPIC SENTENCE AND THESIS STATEMENT

TOPIC SENTENCE

A topic sentence is a sentence that capture the meaning of the entire paragraph or group of sentences. It tells what the passage is maily about.

Example:

The Egyption civilization was one of the most important culture of the acient world. This civilization flourished along the rich banks and delta of the Nile River for many centuries, from 3200 B.C. until the Roman conquest in 30 B.C.

THESIS STATEMENT

Every paper you write should have a main point, main idea, or central message. The argument you make in your paper should reflect this main idea. The sentence that captures your position on this main idea. The sentence that captures your position on this main idea is what we call a thesis statement.

Example:

The ability to purchase television advertising is essential for any candidate’s bid for election to the senate because television reaches millions of people and the thus has the ability to dramatically increase name recognition.
